Italy outbreak nearing peak
As of the 28th, Italy has newly confirmed 5,974 new cases of new coronary pneumonia, with a total of 92,472 confirmed cases; 889 new deaths, and a total of 1,002 deaths. The number of confirmed cases in Italy is second only to the United States, with the largest number of deaths worldwide.
Brusaferro, director of the Italian Institute of Higher Health, said recently that Italy "has seen signs of a slowdown in the number of confirmed diagnoses", meaning that "the relevant isolation measures implemented so far are having an effect." Experts speculate that the outbreak in Italy may be nearing its peak.
